What most people don’t know is that dogs have been on earth to show us that goodness exists in the world. Its only your best friends that will show up to pick you up when you are feeling low, kiss And love you when there is war And hatred.
A dog loves you unconditional. It doesn’t care about how much money you have, the clothes you wear or the car you drive. Although we only allow dogs to occupy a small portion in our lives, what you don’t know is that we occupy their whole lives. Here is a poem ‘A Dog’s Prayer’ written by Beth Norman Harris, the author who lost her pet. It first appeared in the Chicago Tribute. Read it And don’t forget to share.
“Treat me kindly, my beloved master, For no heart in all the world is more grateful For kindness than the loving heart of me”.
“Do not break my spirit with a stick, for though I should lick your hand between the blows, your patience And understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me do”.
“Speak to me often, for your voice is the world’s sweetest music, you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footstep falls upon the waiting ear”.
“When it is cold outside, please take me inside… I am no longer used to bitter elements… I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth… though had you no home, I’d rather follow you through the cold than lay upon the softest pillow in the warmest home in all the land… you are my god… And I your devoted worshiper”.
“Fill my pan with pure water, although I should not reproach you were it dry, I can’t tell you when am thirsty. Feed me good food, that I may stay well, to romp, play and do your bidding, to walk by your side, stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life, should your life be in danger”.
“And, master, should you see fit to rob me of my health or sight, do not turn me away from you. Instead hold me gently in your arms like skilled hands grant me the merciful benefit of eternal rest…and I will leave you knowing with the last breath I drew, my fate was ever safest in your hands”.
